PARIS, France: Far-right political leader Marine Le Pen has told French daily Le Figaro of her desire to nationalize France's motorways and privatize public television and radio channels if she is elected president in the 2022 election.
These two proposals will help maintain the French people's purchasing power, she said.
Toll-road tariffs for French highways, which are currently operated by Eiffage and Vinci, would decrease by 10 to 15 percent if they are nationalized, generating an additional €1.5 billion for the state, Le Pen claimed.
Privatizing public television and radio channels will also reduce the funding levy paid by French households by €2.8 billion, she said.
Le Pen, who lost to Emmanuel Macron in the 2017 election, is preparing for her third presidential campaign in spring 2022.
