WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Washington Wizards' streak of postponed games grew again Monday when the NBA announced their game scheduled for Wednesday at the Charlotte Hornets would be played at a later date due to COVID-19 issues.

Washington would not have had the league-required eight players eligible, with six players having tested positive for the virus and several others out either because of the league's health and safety protocols or injuries.

The game against the Hornets is the Wizards' fifth consecutive postponement and the Washington side now account for one-third of the NBA's postponed games through the first four weeks of the season.

General Manager Tommy Sheppard said on Monday that there was no breach of NBA protocols, adding that the fact that no staff members had tested positive led the organization to believe that interactions within the team's facilities did not spark the wave of positive tests.
