WASHINGTON DC - U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has all but ruled out impeaching President Donald Trump.

In an all-out interview with The Washington Post, Pelosi, who would be expected to lead the charge for impeachment if an attempt was to occur, says "I'm not for impeachment,'' adding that he, Trump, "is not worth it."

"Unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country,'' she said.

Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, is on board with Pelosi's approach. "I get the impression this matter will only be resolved at the polls,'' Cummings said.

Billionaire Tom Steyer, who is financing a campaign to bring about Trump's impeachment, hit back at the house speaker in talking to The Associated Press.

"Speaker Pelosi thinks 'he's just not worth it?' Well, is defending our legal system 'worth it?' Is holding the president accountable for his crimes and cover-ups 'worth it?' Is doing what's right 'worth it?' Or shall America just stop fighting for our principles and do what's politically convenient.''

The White House for once was in agreement with Pelosi however.

"I agree,'' press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday.

"I don't think it should have ever been on the table.''
